Moved.
What a difference a day makes - one moment we were shuttling between Holland Village and SMU, with an occasional trip to NUS (so ulu!), the next we are opening our brand new offices in 9, Tan Quee Lan Street, Bugis. I had fallen in love with the orange office the first time I saw it - back in February, when we did a focus group for Audi using the facilities of Colmar Brunton. Some months of on/off negotiations followed, and on 1 August we moved in, all four of us (freelancers have to continue working from home or Coffeebean), as the new roommates for the market researchers at Colmar Brunton.
Two short weeks of preparation, then we invited clients and friends to the Grand Opening: food, music, drinks (by Emerald Hill Group), attractive prizes to win (sponsored by OPRC, formul8, Pageone, Audi), a goody-bag (with copies of Arena and Vanilla from Mediacorp, vouchers from OPRC and a Jorg Dietzel Brand Consultants writing pad and branding puzzle). For some, the highlight was the balloon ride at night, 150 meters over Bugis, looking out far over Singapore (and trying not to look down). We were happy to welcome clients like OPRC, Audi, TUV and friends from muvee, SMU, Chrysalis and other agencies. We even got flowers (from 10AM, SGX, HP, muvee, touche, Chrysalis) on stands - and it took only one day until they started disappearing, rose by rose.

As one activity, we asked our guests to brand our consultancy - with post-its on a glass wall in the foyer. The comments we received were very close to our intended positioning: "memorable", "different, and that's important", "effective", orange! great", "fun", "small but perfectly formed", "professional", 'tutti frutti", 5 star, definitely", "approachable", "hot to trott" (?), "unassuming but striking", "brand. communicated.", "meticulous", "subtle", "awesome office and awesome people", "mean machine" (?), "energetic" and "impactful".
One comment stood out for me: "can i work here?" - sure, send me your CV.
Oh yes, and one said "Bruce is sexy", but our suspicion is he wrote it himself.
Have a great September!
Jorg
